Marakoopa and King Solomon caves Mole Creek Review

Our experience with touring the Marakoopa and King Solomon caves in Mole Creek was fantastic, we had two excellent tour guides that were very passionate about their jobs and their passion definitely showed through their explanations of how caves work.

We were told the story of how the caves were first discovered by a young boy who would regulary be away from home, eventually his parents asked him where he was going when he was away from home and he then revealed to his parents that he had found a cave.

As someone who has never been in a cave, the tour guides were excellent at explaining how things work, what stalactites and stalagmites are, and how they form, both of the caves are at a constant 9°C so definitely take a jacket with you when going on your tour.

The Marakoopa and King Solomon Caves are managed by Parks TAS and owned by government, a parks pass is not required for this attraction as all tours are ticketed, I went on both tours which costed $34.20.

Our second tour guide for the King Solomon Caves was very passionate about his work and told us stories about how people have tried to take stalactites out of the cave and break them off or hide them in dark places in the cave and take them on the way out, and how it all comes down to care factor.

If you are planning to visit and tour these Caves please be respectful of the cave systems and help preserve them for future generations.

Depending on your tour times and whether you choose to do both caves or just one you may find that you have some time in between to grab some lunch, we had some time between our tours and went a short drive away to Earthwater Cafe which was brilliant and had free WiFi which was a bonus, check out our review at Earthwater Cafe Mole Creek Review

Access

The Mole Creek caves visitor centre is a 15 minute drive from Mole Creek and is easily accessible with car parking available on site. All caves are run on a guided tour and tickets can be purchased from the Mole Creek Caves visitor Centre. The Solomon Cave is only a short drive down the road from the Marakoopa Cave.

Fees

Cave tours start from $19 for an adult, if you decide to do both Caves (King Solomon and Marakoopa Caves) they provide a slight discount, with my total coming to $34.20 saving me $3.80 off the second tour.

You can also use your ticket to get a 10% discount at the trowunna Wildlife Park.

Conclusion

Our experience with exploring the Mole Creek Caves was excellent and our cave tour guides were very informative and passionate about their work, we definitely recommend exploring the Mole Creek Caves if you are looking for attractions in the area, you will not be disappointed.
